Spirit of the Blonde River
(Formerly: Blonde-River Spirit)
The Spirit of the Blonde Rivber is a Takarian legend, passed down through the ages generation after generation.
The legend goes that deep within the forest is a naked woman that wanders about after heavy snowfalls. Her long, golden hair wraps about her body every which way, providing at least some semblance of modesty. She is gaunt - unsightly so, her bones threatening to pierce her skin like knives through canvas. Where she goes her hair follows, leaving a golden river atop the snow.
Early in the morning after a heavy snowfall, as the sun peeks beyond the horizon, some may find that their settlement has been surrounded in a circle of blonde hair. The woman may be spotted by those few that awaken so early in the morning, watching over them with a haunting gaze. She will then raise her arms and hundreds of golden Manablooms will sprout through the snow. But be warned, as these Manablooms are deceitful in their beauty, for should one desire to partake of the Mana held within, they will only be met by unrelenting shrieking. This ghoulish internal screaming may last for hours, if not several days.
It is believed the Spirit of the Blonde River is a harbinger of death; A sign of what's to come and a reminder of what came before. It's believed those who cannot resist taking the Mana from the Manablooms are destined to die by her next visit, being a warning against curiosity and hubris.
