Lovelock's Tragedy

By Marcos Ruelas | Edited by Nightmare3711

Long ago, there used to be a beautiful maiden named Miriam Lovelock who was a romantic and studious scholar. She dwelled in a secret library tucked away from public view. She had been given the duty to protect the shrine from destruction with her own life.

While upholding her oath to safeguard her house of knowledge, she secretly yearned for a life of adventure and freedom beyond the confines of home. Such a practice was considered anti-establishment and far too radical by higher authorities. They feared the masses would resist.

This yearning for exploration would eventually lead into her library being raided. A band of marauders invaded the city and burned her library to the ground, turning Lovelock into a vengeful vigilante with a thirst for retribution. She'd cut her hair to shoulder length, adjusting her wardrobe to a scarlet leotard with a dark cloak. She would wreak havoc across the upper classes, those which she once lived amongst. They had been indifferent to her plight and the plights of their people, all the while she hunted the rogues responsible for burning down her library.

Eventually, she found the gang as she spied on them attempting to raid an ancient tomb. Said tomb contained guardians from long ago that had once protected Vanquera from darkness. Her vengeful bloodlust would lead to their deaths, their blood spilling out across the tombs. She was suddenly struck by an insatiable hunger, devouring their blood. She would accidentally lay her hands upon a cursed diamond.

Seeing this forbidden act, a legion of Celestials descended upon Lovelock. They declared she had betrayed her kindred as she had allowed her resentment and fury take control over her, becoming consumed by her lust for revenge. As punishment for the devastation she caused, the spirits inflicted a heavy curse upon her as her body mutated with intense pain. Her skin became pale as snow, her hair darker and sharp as knives, her fingernails long as claws, her teeth turning into fangs, and her eyes becoming a deep, crimson, bloodshot red. She had become a dreadful vampiric entity - The very first Shadewalker.

She was cursed to live an immortal life as a monster, forced to feed upon the Mana of others and dwell in the night's darkness. To this day, Miriam Lovelock, the Mistress of Vengeance, walks among mortals, invisible to our eyes. She takes the lives of sinners, those who use the name of the White Lady in vain. Her cravings lead to her giving birth to many Shadewalkers through her Mana. They consume, growing stronger and stronger with each victim.

To this day, the Shadewalkers continue to hunt the night with their mother queen ruling the underworld, terrorizing their prey each and every moonlight.
